Stats: 84km, 3hrs 50 mins. We woke up to a beautiful blue sky and followed the lake to Maloja Pass. We took tonnes of photos along the way as the views were so impressive especially the reflections in the lake. Kris climbed to a viewpoint on the road side only to upset a red ants nest. We arrived at the pass and saw the massive steep downhill that snaked its way to the bottom and beyond. We stopped half way to let our break pads cool down and have a hot chocolate. Kris was going so fast his eyes were blurred from the wind and he clocked his highest speed of the trip so far of 66kmh! We had an emergency stop as dad experienced a blow out in his font tyre. We also noticed that his rear wheel was buckled due to a snapped spoke! We repaired the puncture temporarily but the inner tube was poking out the side of the tyre and we knew that it was time to look out for a bike shop asap! We crossed the border into Italy and headed for lake Lecco. The roads could not have been any different from before as the traffic was terrible, the road was full of holes and there were no bike paths. We came across a car garage with a few bikes in the window hoping to getr some help and they turned out to be extrememly efficient and helpful and dads bike was serviced in minutes. Shortly after, we found a campsite and hotel down the road. We had a quick swim/shower in the freezing lake and joined parents for pizza. In total we descended over 2,300m in elevation today.
