Day 27: Milan, Italy

Stats: 86km in 4hrs 41 mins. We packed up the tent as dad washed his car at the campsite. We cycled on to Bellano to parents hotel for breakfast. Weather was in low twenties and it was spitting/raining. The roads got even more busy and worse condition. We passed through several tunnels that were very dark so much so we could not see the road for holes and the cars could not see us... a bit scary! One tunnel in particular joined a motorway half way through and we were forced to walk the bikes tight against the side, we cannot emphasise just how dangerous this was. Kris legs were brown in fear by the end and mum was the other side with brandys lined up to calm the nerves! We headed towards castagonova to meet mum for lunch out the back of the car. It had just stopped raining and we were cold so had hot chocolate in a cafe which was literally melted down chocolate. The road had been gradually climbing whereas Kris had informed us that it was all downhill to Milan! The last 20 miles into Milan were extremely chaotic as the traffic was mad and the maps were non existant but we made it to our hotel Charly to join mum quite successfully. We cleaned up and went to dinner for more pizza and had a fantastic ice cream for pudding as we walked the streets back to the hotel.
